CARETRAIN.COM IS A WINNER OF TODAY’S CAREGIVER MAGAZINE’S 2006 CAREGIVER FRIENDLY AWARD
June 1, 2006 — Today’s Caregiver, the first national magazine for all family and professional caregivers, and caregiver.com announce the 2006 Caregiver Friendly Award recipients. The Caregiver Friendly Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.
One of this year’s winners is Caretrain.com which was first established to deliver care-giving instructions directly to the homes of San Diego area caregivers. President and CEO Wanda Smith of Escondido says she is “thrilled” to have received this award and feels it is crucial that caregivers of all types get proper support and training. “This type of recognition will help us to assist even more people who may have thought they had nowhere to turn.”
Awards were presented on May 23rd at Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Fearless Caregiver Conference which was held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Award winners will also be profiled in the July/August issue of Today’s Caregiver and on the magazine’s website, www.caregiver.com.
“The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds,” says Gary Barg, Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Editor-in Chief. “This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones.”
Caretrain.com has its office in Rancho Bernardo and the business is now expanding to serve people all across the country. The passion for this work comes from 6 years of Smith taking care of her own mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s. “It’s so important to ensure that those who need care are treated with dignity. And we’re doing our part to educate caregivers to that end.”
